Building the Organ Room

We're building a 49 rank pipe organ here at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, VA. We've had to do a little work on the church to prepare a place for the organ and to improve the acoustics of the worship space. We are about 7 weeks out from delivery of the organ. Installation and tonal finishing are planned to be completed by November 26. Here are a few photos of the work thus far.

Concrete block nearly complete.

Organ room from side. The wall you see here has steel studs 12 inches on center. Exterior will be brick and interior will be 2 layers of cement board painted with extra hard paint.

Inside the organ room. Tone openings into worship space on left. Roof rafters are starting to go on. It's a bit of a mess to be cleared out before the chests can go in!
